MANHATTAN THEATER

DISCOUNTED THEATER TICKETS
The Theater Development Fund 212-221-0885 operates a TKTS booth in lower Manhattan at the corner of Front and John Sts. in the South Street Seaport. There is a $3 service charge per ticket. Booth is open from 11 AM to 6 PM Monday through Saturday; from 11 AM to 3:30 PM on Sunday. You can buy discounted tickets for next day's matinee performance. To get there, take the "2" train to the Fulton Street station.  TDF has another booth on Times Square at 47th Street, which generally has longer waiting lines than the booth at South Street Seaport.

This calendar covers concerts, operas, drama and dance from January to June 2004, listing events and the dates that tickets become available at the box office for certain events (typically 2 weeks prior). Note that the Julliard box office is open from 11 AM to 6 PM Monday to Friday.  Check the published schedule for each venue.  Ignore the duration shown for each event on the calendar.

HIT SHOW CLUB 
630 9th Avenue, between 44th and 45th. (Room 808), New York, NY 10036 212-581-4211 They print discount tickets for Broadway and off-Broadway shows. To get on their mailing list, send them a SASE. You can get their full assortment of discount tickets by going to their office between 10 AM and 5 PM, Monday to Friday.

UPRIGHT CITIZENS BRIGADE 
307 West 26th Street (1 flight down) 212-366-9176 They are an improvisational comedy troupe that performs 7 evenings a week. Their Sunday evening performance at 7:30 PM (1-1/2 hours long) features performers from "Saturday Night Live" and writers from "Late Night With Conan O'Brien." Call to reserve and then show up no later than 7 PM on Sunday evening.

NEW AMSTERDAM THEATER 
214 West 42nd Street   This theater, former home of the Ziegfeld Follies, is now home to the musical "The Lion King." A one-hour introduction to the theater is offered on Tuesday mornings at 10:30 AM. The cost is $12 per person. Call 212-282-2907 and ask for Amy.
